Proud Moments in Mentorship. Always a Gestal Lab member!

It has been such an incredible journey watching Dr. Nicholas First grow as a scientist and now as a physician-scientist. From being my very first student to becoming a successful T32 postdoctoral researcher at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Nick has accomplished so much along the way, multiple publications, several awards, and many more exciting things still ahead.

Beyond his scientific achievements, what always stood out most was his willingness to help others, collaborate, and contribute to the success of the entire lab. Nick played a major role in shaping my mentoring style, and I am incredibly proud to have been part of his journey.

I can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes you. The future is very bright ahead!
